Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Abilities Tennis clinics. Abilities Tennis of North Carolina (ATANC) provides tennis programming for athletes with intellectual disabilities ages 8 and up. Volunteers play an important role in making these clinics possible for the athletes.
Volunteers will help on the courts assisting with ball and racquet drills to help teach the Abilities athletes the highly adaptive game of tennis. Abilities athletes range in skill level with some learning how to hold and swing a racquet to hit red-dot starter balls and others playing full court with regular yellow balls. Here is ATANC's Volunteer Overview video that helps explain the way clinics are run and how volunteers support the program.
Coach Nancy King will give an overview and go through a mock clinic from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. From 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, you will volunteer at an Abilities Tennis Clinic where Coach Nancy will continue the training.
All volunteers must complete a background check through the town/city where they volunteer. Once you complete the training, you can volunteer at any of our locations. Please email [email protected] with your location preference. Locations can be found under programs, www.atanc.org.
Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes and bring water, sunscreen, and a racquet if you have one.
Thank you again for your time and support. This time on the court will certainly be the highlight of your week!
