Description

Hollywood is Everywhere! The film industry is alive and well in South Carolina and they need YOU! Business majors don't always see themselves in creative careers like filmmaking, but the skills of finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, project management, and management are all needed in the creation of films. Join the Faber Entrepreneurship Center and our friends in Fanatik Productions, the South Carolina Film Commission, and other studios and production companies, to learn how your business degree can be put to use in this thriving industry. Entrepreneurs welcome! Our community is invited to join our students while we explore the opportunities in grant funding, marketing, production, and festivals and events here in South Carolina. We welcome you, Indie Grits entrepreneurs, filmmakers and story tellers, to commune with us over in-depth explorations of the opportunities in the filmmaking and storytelling space. Speakers Line-up: Matt Storm, South Carolina Film CommissionerDan Rogers, Senior Project Manager, South Carolina Film CommissionFelicia Rivers, writer/director/producer and owner of Geechee One FilmJason Gourdine, writer/director/producer and owner of Crown Vision MediaDr. Brandon Glover, USC alum, writer/director/producer and ownerMore about Opportunity Workshops Opportunity Workshops concentrate all attendees on a single focus concept while facilitating the learning, ideating, exploration, and planning around a spectrum of business opportunities. Opportunity Workshops bridge gaps between populations (example: students and off-campus community members), academic disciplines (example: arts and business), and theory and function (example: study and practice). Opportunity Workshops spark conversation, facilitate exploration, and lay the groundwork for further action. These condensed learning and networking opportunities will create common spaces for focused brainstorming and forge relationships. The series will catalyze business creation. Opportunity Workshops are made possible by the SC Department of Commerce Office of Innovation through Relentless Challenge grant funding.
