The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual worldwide event. This year the GBBC will be February 17 - 20. Dalworthington Gardens will be hosting its 6th GBBC event on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 10:30 am until about 1 pm. We will gather in the community room next to the DWG fire bays on Elkins Drive across from Gardens Park. After a brief introduction we will split into groups led by local birders. They will lead their groups through various dry land and water environments in Gardens Park to see how many bird species and how many of each species can be found. After canvassing the park we will reconvene in the community room to compare notes for bragging rights on who found the most of what. Light refreshments will be served at this time too. The combined results of our counts will be submitted to the GBBC. This data is collected to help scientists learn more about migratory patterns and bird populations.
