In celebration of National Women's History Month, Stockbridge Councilman Elton Alexander and the Women's Committee of Stockbridge are hosting the 8th Annual Women's History Month Awards Ceremony. The theme this year is "Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories". This annual event highlights women in Stockbridge and surrounding communities that are doing ordinary things in extraordinary ways. We show our appreciation for them and their accomplishments with this program in their honor. Stockbridge is a full-service city spanning 19.3 square miles with 150 full-time employees, a resident population of around 40,000 and a combined operating and capital budget of $50 million. The City of Stockbridge is a progressive city on the move. We are the proud paternal ancestral home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We are also the hometown to the multi-platinum selling alternative rock/post-grunge band Collective Soul , home to one of the youngest starting pitchers ever to play for the Atlanta Braves, Kyle Davies, and the 2022 NLB Rookie of the Year, Michael Harris. Stockbridge is located in Henry County, 15 minutes south of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The City is part of the Atlanta metropolitan statistical area.
