BROOKLYN, NY — Police are investigating the death of an 86-year-old man who was found unconscious after a boat fire in Brooklyn Bridge Park's marina.
Archie Joyner was found unresponsive in the hull of a Jefferson Recreational boat after firefighters put out a fire on the 52-foot vessel around 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, police said. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The boat had been parked in the Pier 5 marina, where family friends told the Daily News Joyner had recently moved it from New Jersey. Joyner was living on the boat full-time, according to the friend.
Police sent out a release about Joyner's death saying it was under investigation. The Medical Examiner will determine his cause of death, they said.
