Description
Anchorage Design Week is pleased to host a continuing education session with support from Resysta, an international design and manufacturing company who develops architectural and landscape architectural building products using rice husks removed from the waste stream. This lunch and learn session will feature a presentation by visiting speaker Arne Zenneck highlighting biophilic design and affordable low-maintenance materials that mimic nature. In this one-hour session, we’ll address the assumptions that hold back an effort to scale biophilic design and expand access to life-changing and sustaining benefits. Arne will introduce a simulated-wood product that mimics nature and elicits positive human responses. Participants will learn from applications that exemplify economical and low maintenance solutions for any project type and shared design inspirations. The session will include time for questions and answers as well as discussion about Anchorage's potential to advance biophilic design solutions in our urban and remote design projects. Registered participants will enjoy a provided lunch. This session includes 1 AIA approved Continuing Education Unit, equivalent to 1 Professional Development Hour (PDH) for State of Alaska licensed landscape architects, architects, engineers and surveyors. Participant Registration Cost: FREE SPACE IS LIMITED, literally. Provided lunch will be available only to pre-registered individuals. Put your name on the waitlist and we'll keep in touch about openings and future studio tour opportunities. Anchorage Design Week presents new faces and phenomena in design and highlights both local and international conversations through professional development opportunities and public events. This year’s forum prompts questions, considers processes, and suggests possible solutions for how systems, objects and experiences are designed, executed, repaired, modified, undone, or reconfigured. Anchorage Design Week is a project of the Anchorage Museum in collaboration with the Alaska Design Forum and AIGA Alaska. Images provided by Resysta and Modern Mill
