This workshop has been approved by the CT Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services for continuing education credit for Emergency Medical Services Providers. Registration is required! Purpose: This course is being offered to improve patient outcomes for people who use drugs, and who generally experience substandard care by prehospital and hospital providers. Objectives: Identify current drug supply issues and state the role of harm reduction plays in the health of people who use drugs Identify ways in which EMS providers can improve treatment outcomes for people who use drugs Explain the role of language, hand-off reports, and documentation in treatment efficacy Explain the role of EMS in community programs, public health and combating fentanyl myths.
