In Terms & Conditions: The Fine Print to an Anti-Racist Society, Dr. Kiara Butler marries first-hand experiences navigating systems of oppression as a Black, same-gender-loving woman with concrete examples of how we’ve blindly accepted the terms and conditions of our society. Grounded in scholarly research, Dr. Butler examines how societal messaging and norms in the United States shape our attitudes and behaviors through four dimensions: Power, Empathy, Relationships, and Mindset (PERM). Using the PERM Cultural Competence Framework, Dr. Butler asks readers to engage in a series of reflective exercises exploring the impact of individual actions on marginalized groups. Terms & Conditions is the first book of its kind. Regardless of racial and cultural background, it provides readers with two guided resources and one interactive experience designed for personal and collective accountability in hopes of creating an anti-racist society. About the Author Dr. Kiara Butler is a social entrepreneur, keynote speaker, and Founder of Diversity Talks. She is a strong advocate for youth voice, and in her current work she focuses on bringing the voices of marginalized groups to the forefront.
