Description
TAMPA, FL — Tampa police and Hillsborough County sheriff's detectives are investigating two homicides that took place in Tampa Sunday within a few hours of one another.
Around 7:15 p.m., Tampa police were called to the 2K Express, 6202 N. 40th St., and found a 24-year-old man with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
A 23-year-old woman was also shot but her injuries were not life-threatening.
Shortly after 10 p.m., Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies responded to reports of shots fired at the Raintree Oaks Apartments at 5605 Gibson Avenue off 56th Street south of Temple Terrace.
When deputies arrived, they discovered there had been a shooting in the parking lot of the apartment complex but no shooting victim was found.
Later that night, a man was dropped off at the hospital with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He also died from his injuries.
Deputies believe this is the man who was shot at the apartment complex that they were unable to find.
Although both shootings on Sunday are being investigated as homicides, detectives do not think they are related.
Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 800-873-TIPS.
