KAYLA RAY: Waco, Texas born singer-songwriter Kayla Ray, wipes clean the dust of nostalgia and can bring even the hardest heart to a place of reflection and understanding. All this while remaining feverishly reverent to the roots of country music, greeting current day affairs head on, and chasing whiskey shots with the rowdiest banter one can muster! Currently touring both the US as well as Internationally, Kayla Ray is a quick rising favorite of the independent scene. Kayla’s latest studio single, “The Jameson Waltz” (2019) more than quadrupled its projected numbers in its first quarter. Kayla’s most recent full album release, “Yesterday & Me” (2018) received high praise in both the United States as well as the UK, earning Ray the number 1 spot on Kelly Gregory of “Country Music People” Magazine’s top albums list of 2018. Despite a recent surge, Kayla Ray is far from new to the scene. Interested in the long game, Kayla has been at this pursuit much of her young life. As a child Ray often entered herself into local talent contests and variety shows. Because of these efforts, Ray was lucky enough to find herself playing often around the Legendary Gimble Family in the Waco, Texas area. The talent, kindness, and class of the Gimble Family remain a large influence for Kayla Ray. Then underage, Kayla booked her first headlining gig at Papa Joes of Lorena, Texas. Whereas she puts it, “Billy Joe Shaver shot that guy in the face and got away with it.” Kayla built a band and spent a few years touring Texas and taking necessary knocks before making her entry into the national touring scene. Ray has shared stages with artists like Cody Jinks, Erin Enderlin, Jo Dee Messina, Jamie Lin Wilson, Whiskey Myers, Mo Pitney, Marcia Ball, Reckless Kelly, Jason Bolen, The Turnpike Troubadours, Shane Smith and the Saints, Ray Wylie Hubbard and countless others. From her 'honkytonk dance tempos' to her 'contemplate life' ballads, Kayla Ray’s music does not disappoint. Her feverish reverence to country music, an indisputable work ethic, stoic beauty, and her massive personality, make Kayla Ray an embodiment of what country music should be. Born in Texas but raised in Tennessee, Clint’s foundation was built on three things: family, friends and music - with his dad, Johnny Park, being his strongest musical influence. As his dad was half of Atlantic recording duo, 'Archer Park', it was natural for Clint to follow in his footsteps: Drums by age 10, followed by Guitar, Piano, Mandolin and Bass. Music was Clint’s most interesting subject as well as his extra- curricular activity. At the age of 14, Clint formed a southern rock band called The Backroaders. By 21, Clint and his father Johnny began writing and performing together as 'The Parks'. After hearing them sing a couple of their original songs, they were signed as staff writers to Warner Chappell Music. Inspired by the birth of his brother’s first child and his unwavering love for family, Clint wrote one of his most powerful and requested ballads entitled “Where The Truth Lies.” It was during this time that Clint collaborated with his dad for the first time and wrote “Even Texas Ain’t Big Enough.” The impact of these songs and many more alike were sizable reasons that led to record deals at Capitol Records and Lyric Street Records. Just when the wheels of progress seemed to be rolling for Clint and his father, the economy slammed on the brakes. But like his idol, Willie, Clint did not let this deter him. He documented his life’s journey with song. In 2010, the Country Music Association chose Clint’s performance and song to open their “CMA Music Fest” TV special on ABC. The song was “The Party’s Right Here.” On any given night, Clint Park can look out over the crowd and see friends who have supported him for years, and sprinkled throughout his shows are some of Nashville’s musical greats like Jamey Johnson, Jason Aldean, Kimberly Rhodes, Randy Houser or Jerrod Niemann. Clint Park is a true fan of country music. “I believe there is a need for the songs I’m doing. Country music has always been in my heart and soul -and I think it resonates in the music I create”.
