The 39th Annual Southeast Florida Scottish Festival & Highland Games presented by the Scottish American Society of South Florida is an annual educational event, including a wide variety of Scottish cultural activities. The 2023 Festival will feature music by Albannach, Steel City Rovers , Blue Skye Pipes & Drums, and the World & North American Championship winning City of Dunedin Pipe & Drum Band. The Festival will be held from 9am - 7 pm on March 4, 2023 at Plantation Heritage Park, 1100 S. Fig Tree Lane (W. 63rd Ave), Plantation, FL. The Friday Night Ceilidh/Concert features the Festival Headline performers and takes place on March 3rd from 8-10 pm at the Broward County PBA Hall, 2901 SW 26th Terr, Ft. Lauderdale [just off State Rd 84]. The Festival provides an exciting exhibition of Scottish culture with Pipe Band and Heavy Athletics competition, Scottish Country Dancing, Highland Dancing, Scottish rock and folk music, living history encampments and craft demonstrations, sheep dog trials, military reenactments, and Clan (family) & Society heritage displays. An area of Children's activities immerses them in Scottish culture through dress up, coloring, child-appropriate Scottish athletics and a passport game that guides them around the heritage displays. Our vendor area features Scottish/Celtic artisan merchandise, such as pottery, jewelry, fabric arts, and leatherwork, including works by local and other Florida-based artisans. Traditional Scottish foods, including haggis, Scotch Pie, Scotch eggs, fish & chips, shortbread, clootie dumpling, and more are on offer, as well as foods from American and other cultural traditions. Soda, water, wine and beer, including Scottish ales, are also for sale. Participation at the Festival is by people of all ages, ethnicities and sexes and is not restricted to those of Scottish heritage. Come be a Scot for a day - and bring a friend! Yes, you can purchase tickets at the gate with cash or credit, but the ticket price goes up to $25 at midnight March 3rd- save money and buy in advance!
