Join the Division of Arts and Culture on February 16 from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Heritage Hall Auditorium in the R.A. Gray Building to view a feature-length broadcast documentary on the life, work and legacy of Dr. Bethune and the Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Statuary Project. The screening will be followed by a reception and scholarly talk.
The Art of The Possible: The Life and Legacy of Mary McLeod Bethune - A Journey to Statuary Hall weaves together the stories of educator, activist and politician Mary McLeod Bethune and the creation, by Florida Master Sculptor Nilda Comas, of the marble statue of Bethune that was placed in National Statuary Hall at the US Capitol in Washington DC in July 2022. Produced by The Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Statuary Fund, Inc., the documentary features interviews by noted Bethune scholars and historians, as well as Comas and members of the fund.
