Natural Resources was selected by the State League of Women Voters as one of its 4 legislative priorities for the 2023 session. It is not for the faint of heart. There is a constant tug of war between preserving our incredibly beautiful and unique environment and the needs of a rapidly increasing population and the demands of an ever expanding and dynamic economy. As you would expect, the history of that struggle is deep and complicated, and the resulting laws and rules governing that landscape are convoluted and compromised. Add to that mix the very real consequences of climate change.
To help us sort it out we have invited Aliki Moncrief, the Executive Director of Florida Conservation Voters, to give us historical background and the current legislative mood as we head into the upcoming session.
The event is free and open to anyone interested. You just need to be registered so we know how many to expect. Downtown metered and public parking available including at the nearby Leon County Public Library (or consider taking the bus). $10 box lunches from the Metro Deli available upon request (includes sandwich, chips, cookies, drink). See menu choices when reserving a spot.
