We are proud to have BET’S "Sunday Best" finalist and Gospel Artist Serena Young headline our “Love and Justice II” concert. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.” So, we bring you “Love and Justice II.” Serena Young is a Rochester native and someone who understands hurts of the heart caused by life, or injustice of any kind. A woman of deep faith, Serena understands that God’s love holds within it healing power, which can give us a fresh start, to grow into our best selves, despite our struggles. Serena is known by those in her inner circle as someone who challenges you to check your heart posture, and to be a better you, through faith in God! Serena’s voice is captivating, ranging from smooth and sultry to churchy. Everything she sings takes you on a spiritual soul-stirring experience that you will never forget. Your contribution will go toward the Black Community Focus Fund (BCFF), which is charged with serving underserved populations in the heart of Rochester. BCFF, along with the Spiritus Christi Anti-Racism Coalition and partner churches, businesses, and government organizations, are working to develop the Minister Franklin D. Florence Civil Rights Heritage Park. This park will tell the story of Rochester’s Black Freedom struggle, highlighting freedom fighters, truth tellers, and voices for justice within our own community.
