FACILITATED BY: Dr. Jeff Menzise, Mind on the Matter, Ltd. According to The Washington Post, there are, on average, more than 1,000 people shot and killed by police every year. Some of these are justified, some are not. Of those that are not justifiable, ultimately the responsibility rests with the law enforcement officer(s) pulling the trigger. With this in mind, it is also necessary to recognize how some behaviors of the victim, could serve to escalate these situations, leading to their ultimate and unjust demise. This is a tough but necessary conversation to have, not only to identify those instances, but to also use the examples to develop a disposition and frame of mind geared towards surviving these encounters. Now more than ever, we are in need of a skills development workshop, designed to help attendees develop the prosocial and self-mastery skills, to improve the likelihood of positive outcomes when encountering law enforcement. Dr. Menzise's Survive the Encounter workshop answers this call.
