The United Way of Gaston County annually holds Purse Power, a community fundraiser in Gaston County that serves as a Women United’s signature event. Purse Power began with the idea to combine efforts of women to raise funds to change the lives of citizens. Since it started in 2011, the Purse Power fundraiser has served as a platform to unite women to support critical needs.
The proceeds from the event will support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library (DPIL). United Way of Gaston County has been the DPIL affiliate since 2004. United Way of Gaston County has partnered with DPIL to place an age-appropriate book in the homes of Gaston County children from birth to age 5. They currently support more than 1,400 children - providing one book a month for five consecutive years. Their goal is to keep the more than 1,400 children currently enrolled in the program and further expand their reach to assist more families with literacy needs.
Purse Power is a fabulous lady’s night out with a purpose!
