Through a panel discussion and Q&A time learn the steps to take to plan your legacy, consider implications of various steps you can take, and to build community impact with thoughtful estate planning. Key topics: Identify your "Why"; understand the legal steps for "How"; plan for issues you may not have considered; and proactively address the 'business' aspects of death (probate, taxes, and other legalities) - all to support building your personal legacy. Ponda Caldwell: Judge Caldwell has served Spartanburg County residents in the Spartanburg probate court since 2005. She has advised paralegal training program development for local colleges and has taught college level courses on Probate Law. She has been an active and award winning member of County, State and National legal professional organizations. Sonja Parker: as a professional financial advisor with Edward Jones, Ms. Parker has worked to identify her client's personal goals: for retirement, estate, and legacy planning; college savings; building wealth; managing divorce finances; and creating solutions for business retirement plans. Jim Shaw: has been certified by the Supreme Court of South Carolina as a specialist in estate planning and probate law since 2002. He is a founding member of of Dennis, Shaw, Drennan & Pack LLC established in 1993 in Spartanburg. His practice helps clients manage estate and tax planning, probate avoidance, business succession planning, and gift planning. Nancy Tate: has applied her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and MBA from Winthrop University to more than three decades administering federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs and veteran's education programs. She has supported state and regional organizations to diversify their investments and to build long-term health. Her success with this long term financial planning has earned her Distinguished Service Awards. Format: Each panelist will share key points from their areas of expertise followed by question and answer time. Lunch is provided.
