BROOKLINE, MA — Out of the thousands of books the Brookline Public Library loaned out last year, there are a few that seemed to get continued attention. The library gave Patch a list of it's most-read books of 2020, broken down by category. And it just might shed a little light about what Brookline readers were thinking on this year. So what topped the list? Amid a year that saw deep conversations about race, two popular books tackled addressing that. At least two books on Oprah's Book Club recommended, one called "American Dirt," about the ordeal of an undocumented immigrant, and "Caste," a nonfiction book that Oprah called "required reading for all of humanity." Also on the list were some mystery suspense novels that came out in 2020, former President Barack Obama's memoir "A Promised Land," and the coming of age novel "Such a Fun Age."
