After Capt. David Dorn's murder, in June of 2020, his wife Ann felt the desire to honor her late husband, David. Looking back at the positive impact the St Louis Police Foundation had on St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officers, Ann felt this would be a perfect avenue to continue David’s passion of “taking care of his officers.” Together, Ann and a longtime friend Gary Foster formed the Captain David Dorn Foundation in February 2022, a 501c3 Foundation. Ann and Gary wanted to do State-wide for First Responders what the St Louis PoliceFoundation did for St Louis City Police officers; To provide equipment that a police or fire department did not, or could not provide for their employees. Ann and Gary witnessed first-hand the positive impact those donations had on their fellow officers. The Foundation’s Goal The Captain David Dorn Foundation’s goal is to focus on taking care of not just Police Officers, but all First Responders (Police, Fire and E.M.S.) and to primarily focus on smaller, underfunded police and fire departments. We eventually want to expand our donations for scholarships to area training academy's.
