Description

In a revealing and timely follow up to the 2019 Emmy-award winning documentary Jim Crow of the North, Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) has created a series of documentary shorts called “Jim Crow of the North Stories.” You are invited to experience these stories in a live event that features music, poetry, and food. This will set the table for community conversations meant to acknowledge racism, celebrate ongoing resistance, and move participants to repair harm. Over the course of two incredible evenings Mapping Prejudice and the University of Minnesota Libraries, City of Golden Valley, Just Deeds, and TPT invite community members to come together to “Bridge the Faultlines” between the adjacent communities of Golden Valley and North Minneapolis. For decades, these two cities have been divided through racist covenants in property deeds and purposeful segregation. All are invited to activate their purpose and become part of the change and healing. FREE with registration. These events are made possible thanks to the generous support of the University of Minnesota Imagine Fund Grant and the City of Golden Valley. Presented by Mapping Prejudice, City of Golden Valley, Twin Cities PBS, Just Deeds, and the University of Minnesota Libraries
