The Wisconsin Wind Orchestra is one of the few professional chamber wind ensembles in the world, and is recognized internationally for its CD recordings and tours to The Netherlands, Italy, and southern California.
Repertoire for this concert will consist of the gorgeous Petite Symphonie by the great French composer, Charles Gounod; the rousing Overture from Rossini’s comedic opera masterpiece, The Barber of Seville; a transcription of a delightful Baroque duet for 2 organs by Antonio Soler; and a big 4-movement Romantic symphony called Sinfonietta by Joachim Raff.
The Wisconsin Wind Orchestra is an 11-member professional ensemble dedicated to offering audiences a varied and entertaining concert of wind chamber music of the highest caliber. This concert will be the only performance in Wisconsin this season by the group, so I hope very much that you will be able to come. The concert is offered free to the public due to generous private funding for the group.
