Welcome! I am Brandis, your host for Rites of Spring. I’m so excited to share time with you learning about ritual, how imperative ritual is to living the life you choose, and how to design your own more ritualized life. We will discover rituals that you can use to support your own sacred life. I create ritual in my life to tie my existence and gratitude to nature, to our earth, to our universe. I hold regular moon ceremonies, seasonal rites, and celebrations to mark special astronomical occurances, like eclipses for example. This works for me because it keeps me in the rhythm of the world around me. I feel I am able to make better choices for my life and I get what I want and deserve. I have been creating and performing ritual for as long as I have been making memories. Actually most of us have, though we don’t really do it consciously. Ponder this: Our society provides our earliest ritual experiences. Your family may have Sunday dinner at grandmas house regularly or maybe you grew up in the church choir or you said the pledge of allegiance every morning at school. All these communal regularly scheduled undertakings are rituals designed to organize and/or add more meaning to our common experience. Think about the daily rituals that you do now: brush your teeth, have your morning cup of coffee/tea, maybe say a prayer or meditation. What could you add or remove from your rituals (you may also recognize them as your routines) that would help you live the life you want? Together, we’ll discuss what ritual actually is, when humans started creating ritual, where we perform ritual, why humans created ritual in the first place, and how rituals provide us a tether to connect to ourselves and to our past, present, and future. At the end of this experience, I want you to consider yourself a conscious ritualist, a person who incorporates ritual and thereby sacredness into their daily life. I look forward to being a loving witness of the rituals you bring into your life. I love you! Brandis
