Do you want an entry-level class on sewing and garment construction? Do you have a sewing machine but are uncertain how to use it?
Join us for a hands-on introductory course that will teach the foundational skills needed to construct simple garments. This class is perfect for the aspiring sewist who is curious to try sewing or the self-taught sewist who would like to increase their knowledge and technical skill set. Previous sewing experience is not necessary.

Students will work on Janome HD-3000 and School Mate 7330 straight-stitch home sewing machines.
Students will:
Cut and sew a tote bag and set in a zipper;Learn sewing vocabulary, including sewing machine parts and apparel construction terminology;Learn how to thread and operate a conventional sewing machine, including trouble-shooting common issues;Receive instruction on how to read a commercial sewing pattern;Learn basic techniques to create sewn products, including how to pin and cut fabric and order of operations for construction; andReceive a complimentary Rightfully Sewn sewing pattern for a tote bag to continue sewing at home.A shopping list will be provided for students to purchase supplies ahead of class.
