Our Sundays in the Parlor Series is back! This year's theme is "Our History Restored," which shares the history and restoration of historical homes in Washington County. An individual ticket includes a Sunday lecture at the Miller House parlor and a tour of a historic house on the following Saturday.
Join us at the Miller House for a lecture on Sunday, February 19, from 1:00-3:00 PM, as Jim Clement speaks about the journey of restoring the Spielman Farm in Fairplay, MD, along with local historian and author Dr. Emilie Amt.
Jim will share about the home's history, as well as his conservation work and expansion of the property. Originally built by the Hogmire family in the late 18th century, including several historic outbuildings, the Spielman family acquired the property in the 1850s. Dr. Amt, will share about the enslaved community who lived on the property.
Then on Saturday, February 25, join the Linda and Jim Clement at the Spielman Farm for an in-person tour of the property and house at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, or 2:00 PM. The historic home's address will be provided following the lecture, and guests can register for tour times following purchase of a ticket.
