Dick Draffone, President of Collier-Lee Honor Flight is a retired Police Sergeant with 30 years of municipal police experience and served 18 years in a supervisory role, including the rank of Commander. He is also the past president of the Illinois Crime Prevention Association. The mission of Honor Flight is to transport local Veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifice. They were established in 2013 to bring this program to the Collier and Lee County areas in Southwest Florida. Six short weeks after forming, a very successful inaugural flight (Mission 1) took place on November 9th, 2013. To date Dick and the volunteers that work with him have transported nearly 1200 WWII, Korean and Vietnam veterans on this deeply emotional and well deserved trip.
