This is a local, in person tournament and friendlies night for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players in Annapolis, Maryland and surrounding areas. The location is the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on 461 College Pkwy, Arnold, MD 21012. It is about five minutes away from the Naval Academy Bridge. It will take place on Sunday, Febuary 12th, 2023 from 5PM-9PM Prizes: The 1st place winner will receive $20, while the 2nd place winner will receive $15. Schedule: The schedule is as follows: 5pm-6pm: Doors open, setup, tourney sign ups, and friendlies 6pm-9pm: Tournament (double elimination) and friendlies 9pm-10pm: Teardown Entrance/tourney/food/drink fee: The fee for entry the night is $10 with no setup. The only payment that will be accepted will be in cash, no exceptions. The fee will cover: entrance to the event, a spot in the tournament, food, and drink. Entry will be discounted to $5 if you come with a full setup, which includes: * A tv or monitor with speakers, internal or external *A Nintendo Switch with a docking station and all cables needed to operate it *A gamecube controller adapter *A copy of Super Smash Brothers ultimate, updated to the latest version (no modded versions please) All characters unlocked + DLC characters (including Piranha Plant) (Not required, but bonus points for power strips) (There will be extra monitors there that can count towards the discount, but is first come, first serve for use of them.) Controllers: Please bring your own controller, whether it be a gamecube or pro controller. Extra controllers at the event are not guaranteed. Misconduct: Please act appropriately and as you would during any other all ages Smash event. Failure to do so will result in removal from the event with no refunds for the entrance fee. Tournament rules: We will be following the Xanadu official rules set. Please set up a ruleset on your console before coming to the event. Set Procedure 1. Players select their characters. Either player may elect to do Double Blind Character Selection (ask for a T.O. for this) 2. Use Starter Stage Striking (see bottom of page) to determine the first stage 3. The players play the first game of the set 4. Winning player of the preceding game strikes two stages. The losing player of the preceding game picks a stage for the next game. Loser may not counterpick the last stage they won on during a set (MDSR) 5. The winning player of the preceding game may choose to change characters. 6. The losing player of the preceding game may choose to change characters. 7. The next game is played. 8. Repeat Steps 4 through 8 for all subsequent games until the set is complete. Starter Stages Battlefield, Kalos Pokemon League, Pokemon Stadium 2, Smashville, Town & City Counterpick Stages Final Destination*, Hollow Bastion, Small Battlefield, *Steve Clause: When counter picking and one of the players is using Steve, the only alternative that can be used for FD (should one player not want to use default FD) is Wuhu Island. 2 BANS | MDSR** **(Players cannot counterpick to the last stage they won on during a set) Starter Stage Striking Players may strike from legal starter stages (each person strikes stages in a 1-2-1 format) to determine the starting stage for the first game. Who strikes first can be determined by a game of Rock Paper Scissors. *Losers, Winners, and Grand Finals will be best of 5.
