Rhode Island LEAs have a unique opportunity to apply for School Building Authority capital funds to create or enhance schoolyard habitats, gardens and outdoor learning spaces through the RI Department of Education’s Learning Inside Out Initiative. This is the time to outline a plan for your school that you can submit to your administration for inclusion in the larger application.
Rhode Island public and charter school teams are invited to participate in this workshop that will provide the expertise, resources and time to develop a plan for creating a schoolyard habitat and outdoor learning space at their site. Participating teams of 2 – 5 people may include teachers, administrators, parents and community
There is no workshop fee and participating teachers will receive a $150 stipend for their time. Each school will receive a copy of U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s Schoolyard Habitat Project Guide and Audubon’s Schoolyard Habitat Resource Guide.
