HARLEM, NY — A new mobile coronavirus testing site opened in Harlem on Monday as the city encourages residents to keep getting tested as the vaccine rolls out. The testing van opened Monday morning at the Canaan Baptist Church parking lot, 132 West 116th St. (Between Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. and Malcolm X boulevards). The testing van will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through Sunday. Ongoing Health + Hospitals testing sites remain open around Harlem, including a rapid testing site in Central Harlem. Meanwhile, the city plans to open several coronavirus vaccine distribution sites in Harlem in the coming weeks. A "mega-site" at La Marqueta in East Harlem will open Feb. 2, after originally being scheduled to open last weekend. And a public school in Central Harlem will open Friday as a vaccine hub for eligible New Yorkers. NEW: @NYCHealthSystem has updated locations & hours for covid test sites.Testing in NYC is stagnating, likely in part because everyone is focused on vaccination. But it's more important than ever that you get tested regularly. As always it's no cost, available to all aged 2+. pic.twitter.com/I7njyXtKjY— Mark D. Levine (@MarkLevineNYC) January 11, 2021
