Project description: Just in time for black history month, Black History is Living is an environmental justice video art piece celebrating the Earth and our ancestors. The film encourages viewers to think outside the box, live greener lives by growing food, use environmentally-friendly technology, compost, volunteer in their communities and share their knowledge with others. Doors Open: 4pmFilm premiere: 6pmEvent details: This is a Liberated Lands program and event. Come hungry and ready to support liberation on land. There will be food, drinks, and merchandise for sale all night. All proceeds and donations will go towards building plans on the first ever Liberated Lands campus in Tusten, NY. More about Liberated Lands: The mission of Liberated Lands is to create spaces centering indigenous knowledge where individuals learn how to take care of themselves through taking care of the earth. Liberated Lands cultivates healing and educational growing environments for free thinkers. In 2022, Liberated Lands founder Isa Jamira acquired an acre of undeveloped land to grow the first Liberated Lands campus. The first ever Liberated Lands campus will be a one-of-a-kind space inspired by a desire to divest from fossil fuels, reconnect to the Earth using natural elements, and actively challenge the current food system and status quo. New Rochelle is a 35 minute metro north train ride from Grand Central station. The New Rochelle station is a simple 3 minute walk from the from the venue located at 49 Lawton St, New Rochelle, NY. Once you arrive at the New Rochelle metro north station (1)walk up the steps in the opposite direction of the train (2)exit the station and walk straight onto Shearwood Pl (3) cross Huguenot St(4) turn right onto Lawton St For folks traveling from the Bronx: Driving, or taking the metro north from Fordham are the best options.
