“PHOTO-POEMS” Saturday, April 22, 2023 Held during National Poetry Month as part of Hay Memorial Library’s Great Lakes Poetry Series, "Photo-Poems" is an arts program to promote and encourage creative writing and artistic expression. The program is open to the public, ages 16 and up, with a registration donation of $5.00. The fee covers all workshop materials and registration. _________________________ Location: Sackets Harbor Visitor Center, West Main St., Sackets Harbor, NY Hours: Saturday, April 22, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. 1:00 to 1:30 Discussion “Where Writing and Art Meet” with Poet Dan Kantak and Visual Artist Lawrence Barone 1:30 to 4:00 Workshops Ekphrastic Poetry led by Dan Kantak Write your own poetry and verse from prompts and visual cues to spark inspiration!In this workshop writers will explore use of sound and rhythm. Pastel Drawing led by Lawrence Barone In this hands-on workshop, we’ll use soft pastels and paper to createartwork inspired by a poem or a photo 4:00 to 5:00 Poetry Reading, Reception & Art Exhibit (Open to the Public) Register early! Registration is limited to 10 per workshop session Daniel Kantak Writer, artist, photographer, and author of “A Rumor About Shooting Stars,” Daniel’s poems and photographs display his love of different cultures and thenatural world. He often combines native instruments – ocarinas and NativeAmerican flutes - with his readings. Lawrence Barone Printmaker, artist, and teacher, Lawrence’s artwork is inspired by NorthCountry landscapes and shoreline. His work has been featured in shows,exhibits, and collections across the Great Lakes and Northeastern United States.
