Leadership Through Storytelling Presented by Dr. Rachel Clapp Smith, Purdue Northwest Agenda: 8:15 a.m. - Doughnuts, coffee and networking 8:30-9:30 a.m. - Presentation Description: The stories we tell can make a difference – in understanding who we are, how we lead, and influencing others and what we do. But how do we build the narratives about our leadership? This interactive session will utilize tools that can be used to craft a narrative around one’s leader identity (who I am and what I do a leader) and can be applied to the current self, aspirational self, and/or collective identity of the organizations we lead. About Dr. Rachel Clapp Smith Dr. Rachel Clapp Smith is the Teddy Jacobi Dean of the Purdue Northwest College of Business, as well as a professor of Leadership and academic director of the Leadership Institute at Purdue Northwest. She previously served as associate vice chancellor of Academic Affairs for PNW, focusing on student success and retention as well as faculty development. She was one of the most recent winners of PNW’s Outstanding Administrative Leader award in March 2022. Clapp Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in History and German from Bowdoin College (Maine), an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management (Arizona), and a doctorate degree in Organizational Behavior and Leadership from the University of Nebraska. She has been active in leadership development consulting, coaching and facilitation in the United States and Europe.
