Please drop by during this community workshop! The purpose of this event is to learn more from you about what you would like to see in this one-of-a-kind walking, biking, and equestrian trail. Never heard of the Great Redwood Trail? The project team will provide an overview of the trail and the current Master Plan process. Excited about the Great Redwood Trail and want to get involved? There will be several facilitated and engaging activities to discuss your priorities and vision for the trail. Concerned about the trail? There will be project team members present to hear your concerns and help answer any questions you may have. --- The Great Redwood Trail (GRT) is envisioned as a 316-mile rail-to-trail project connecting California’s San Francisco and Humboldt Bays. What will be the longest of its kind, this multi-use trail will travel through some of the most scenic landscapes in the United States, traversing old-growth redwood forests, oak woodlands and vineyards, and the dramatic Eel River Canyon. The GRT will connect the many vibrant communities of Humboldt, Trinity, Mendocino, Sonoma, and Marin Counties, creating a transformational economic engine and boosting healthy recreation for all in the North Coast region. This event will support the development of the Master Plan, which will be a roadmap for planning, constructing, and managing the Great Redwood Trail in Mendocino, Trinity, and Humboldt Counties. The Master Plan will be informed by robust community engagement to capture community desires, concerns, and ideas. The Master Plan will serve as a guiding document to address issues such as trail user experience, trail design, operations and maintenance, habitat restoration, project priorities, funding, and management of the trail. The Great Redwood Trail in Sonoma and Marin Counties will be planned and constructed by Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit.
