Come join us at The Avalon on Sunday, February 12th at 4 PM for “The Bloomer Bash” a woman empowering event to advocate and bring awareness to domestic violence. Our featured speaker will be Robin McNeal from Turning PointMcNeal will share information about how Turning Point is assisting victims of domestic violence by helping them heal and find the beauty within to be confident and lead successful lives. In addition, the program will celebrate and lift up women through inspiring performances by local artists. Audience members will also hear from a panelist of local leaders in business including Ashley Schwyn from The Academy, Shawnna Sue from Crooked Door Studio, Maggie Mullen & Paula Lynch from Plumm Home, and Lavona See from Impact60. Entry to the event will be a new or gently used item of bra or new underwear to be donated to Turning Point. Please register to reserve your spot - we will see you there! Robin McNeal is a Teen Advocate for Turning Point, the domestic violence service provider for Union County. Robin’s passion is providing advocacy for several groups, including victims of relationship abuse (through her work at Turning Point), child victims of abuse/neglect (as president of the board for Friends of CASA of Delaware and Union Counties), and victims of human trafficking (through involvement in state and nation-wide anti-trafficking and restorative work). Robin is a proud crazy cat lady, and a lover of yellow, tie dye, disco balls, cooking, kayaking, hiking, and traveling! As a survivor of relationship abuse, Robin hopes to encourage and empower Bloomer Bash attendees by sharing part of her story and raising awareness of Turning Point’s resources. Gigi Bix is a senior at Marysville High School in Union County Ohio. As a part of the Global Scholars program, Gigi has committed herself to create awareness and a call to action for domestic violence. Her goal is to remind communities in Central Ohio and afar of the need to lift up and support all who are affected by domestic violence - especially women. Through the healing power of music, spoken word and inspirational messages, Gigi will bring the stage to life with hope, acceptance and the gentle reminder that "beauty blooms from the inside out."
