The Persistence of Patriots of Color and the Formation of The First Rhode Island Regiment of the Continental Army
The OCHM will host speakers to present their on-going work elevating the stories of veterans of color from Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Learn about the history of the 55th Regiment, fascinating discoveries, and preservation efforts with authors and historians.
The opening ceremony will feature a flag exchange between the OCHM and the Varnum Memorial Armory Museum of East Greenwich R.I., and donations of gifts by the Roomes Family, with remarks by elected officials.

This program is free and open to the public. Join us for refreshments at 12:30 pm and special presentations from 1-3 pm.
The Old Colony History Museum will be free to visit all day, 10 am - 4 pm!
