Description

GATHERED: Appreciation night for foster and adoptive parents. We’re back!!! Calling all foster/adoptive families for a night to say thank you and spoil you. You are invited to dine with us on Saturday, March 4th, 6:00 - 8:00 pm pm at City Life Church for a catered Italian meal provided by Blue Moon. We will have raffles and gifts for every family and you will be hearing from Courtney Price-Dukes. Courtney Price-Dukes: Born and raised in Kansas City Missouri, Courtney Price-Dukes has a story of resilience. While her life has been filled with adversity, she continues to beat the odds. Growing up, Price-Dukes dealt with financial struggles, abuse, neglect and navigating the foster care system. Instead of allowing her circumstances to hinder her, she made the decision to turn her pain into power. Price-Dukes now uses her story to advocate for disadvantaged youth and foster children. In 2020, she presented a TedXTalk discussing the realities of foster care. By using analogies from the movie “Annie”, Price-Dukes was able to educate viewers about life as an individual involved with the foster care system. Her advocacy does not stop there. As Miss Augusta 2023, Price-Dukes will compete for the job of Miss Kansas, a statewide local that feeds into the Miss America Opportunity. She uses her title to advocate for her Service Initiative, Aging Out to Aging Forward: Fostering the Future. Her Initiative focuses on ways to progress the foster care system so that children are better acclimated for life after aging out. She plans to do this through mentorship, service and advocating. Outside of the pageant world, Price-Dukes serves as Youth Champion at Rise Up for Youth, a non-profit organization that focuses on providing mentorship to high school students. She wants to use every role in her life helping individuals realize that they too can overcome adversity. In her free time, Price-Dukes enjoys cuddling up with a blanket and watching reality TV with her cat, Hermione. *Childcare Provided* Free to all attendees. Limited childcare provided.
