Description
You are invited to a beautiful evening of meditation and music with an intention to support you in reaching deep states of relaxation. The evening, led by sought-after sound meditation facilitator Jay Taylor, will feature sound from crystal singing bowls, shruti box, percussion, native flute, and more. Lay back and allow the powerful frequencies of the instruments to support you on your inward journey. During our practice together you are encouraged to be aware of what arises with each new sound, explore the sensations, breath, and let go. No prior experience, training, or beliefs are required to participate and/or benefit from this experience. What to expect: 6:45 - 7:00pm - Doors open -> Settle-In, Get Comfortable 7:00 - 7:10pm - Introduction to the Experience and Intention Setting7:10 - 8:10pm - Sound Meditation 8:10 - 8:15pm - Closing WordsGetting to the Space: Our venue is Heartwood Center which is located in Evanston at 1818 Dempster St, Evanston, IL. When you arrive to our door simply knock and a team member will let you in and guide you to the space. A small parking lot exists just East of the building on Dempster. There are limited spots so please plan to arrive early in case the lot is full and you need to seek other parking. Late attendees will not be admitted regardless of the reason.Recommendations: In preparation for the experience, consider eating a light dinner.Bring a yoga mat and consider bringing a cushion, eye-mask, blanket, and pillow.Wear comfortable clothing.Bring water to stay hydrated. Who is Jay Taylor? After completing a 10-year teaching career Jay transitioned into the world of sound meditation in 2018. Since that time he has facilitated over 1,500 sessions throughout the Chicago-land area in a diversity of spaces including hospitals, addiction centers, galleries, yoga studios, private clubs, corporate offices, universities, Chicago Botanic Gardens, Navy Pier, Morton Arboretum, and many others. In 2020, Jay partnered with the Ahimsa Yoga Studios to co-found the Ahimsa School of Sound Healing of which he is the director. The mission of the school is to support people in expressing themselves through instruments and taking control of their own well-being and health. Beyond weekly sound meditations and the Foundations in Vibration course, the school retails singing bowls, native flutes, and many other instruments.
