FREE Hands-Only CPR TrainingWe’re pleased to support the American Heart Association and its important mission to increase survival from cardiac arrest. Hopkinsville Fire & EMS is offering a free CPR hands only to anyone over the age of 12. Paramedics and EMTs will be onsite to teach CPR , AED use, and additional lifesaving skills. Participants will receive a "Certificate for Participation" from HFD. You will not receive a certificate for CPR/AED use that is required by many employers. This course is intended for the general public. American Heart Association certificate courses are available upon request. For questions call 270-890-1400 M-F 8-3pWhy Learn Hands-Only CPR?Cardiac arrest – an electrical malfunction in the heart that causes an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) and disrupts the flow of blood to the brain, lungs and other organs – is a leading cause of death. Each year, more than 350,000 EMS-assessed out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the United States. When a person has a cardiac arrest, survival depends on immediately receiving CPR from someone nearby. According to the American Heart Association, about 90 percent of people who suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrests die.
