This is the perfect class for gardeners, Louisiana culture enthusiasts, and all aspiring farmers. A piece of Bob's personal plant history, As a child , I was a n A student throughout seventh grade down near the southern tip of the Mississippi River in Plaquemines Parish. I attended Our Lady Of Good Harbor Church, in Buras, Louisiana. I had a problem in conduct. I was taught by Nuns and a Priest named Father Christopher. This is where I was introduced to earth, “soil” and how important it was to us. My conduct assignment was to report to the Nuns convent and Fathers rectory. It actually wasn’t a assignment though. It was to help me get to a C- conduct through first to seventh grade, the Nuns taught me how to make flower beds planting roses, azaleas, mums and different other flowers. When I wasn’t planting for the Nuns and Priest my Papa had me working for him and my Aunt . Back then taste of the soil was the making of good produce. We grew tomatoes, bell pepper, peppers, eggplant, and others. We also grew oranges, pomegranate, and Japanese persimmons. He an my Aunt taught me how to make rows and water and the maintenance of keeping rows during the growing season. I planted with him and during growing season I shrimped with him and in the evenings watered and sprayed. When we watered we had to stretch hoses down the rows. The rows were 100 feet long about 4 feet apart 10 rows per field. We had to pump water from white 55 gallons drums or a well Papa had drilled and out of the red drum was what we had to use to spray the bottom of the produce and out of the black was what we had to spray the plants themselves. My Papa made everything himself. He taught me all his tricks and doctoring to the produce. It would be a pleasure to teach for you and bring the next generation to the earth”soil”. Thank You Bob Nolan
