Let's start a Jazz Fusion band

I'm looking to build an instrumental band/collective of musicians to play original music that is groove-based, melodic, and improvisational while being influenced by (but not limited to) styles of jazz/fusion, rock, and hip hop. The best example of what I'm going for in terms of sound is something similar to Alfa Mist and Yussef Dayes. I play the trumpet and my ideal lineup would also incorporate saxophone, keys and/or guitar, bass, and drums. Other wind instruments would be considered as well. Being able to read standard music notation/lead sheets, having knowledge of theory, being able to improvise over chord changes, being able to comp (if you play the keys or guitar), prior experience in performing, and having a good ear are encouraged. I also play the guitar and some piano and use these instruments as compositional tools. I have a few demos that I can send to anyone that may be interested. If you write your own original music then that is a huge plus as well because I'm looking for this group to be collaborative. I'm currently located in Matawan, NJ but will be relocating to the Jersey City area in a few months. My goals for this project are to gig in the local/DIY/jazz scenes in NJ/NYC/Philly, establish a tight unit of musicians, record and release music, have fun, become friends, and use our music to positively connect with people.
