BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SOUTHERN MAINE JOB TITLE: Lead Maintenance Custodian OVERVIEW: This hands-on position handles daily cleaning, supply restocking and light maintenance for our Cumberland Avenue location. The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate attention to detail and proactive attention to the facility, which includes a gym, pool, locker rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and boiler room in addition to offices and program areas. Experience with cleaning and maintaining facilities are required, as well as some flexibility of hours. This position handles some snow removal duties. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Plan and carry out daily custodial responsibilities. Perform basic maintenance functions, including occasional light carpentry, painting, and plumbing repairs. Maintain lighting systems by cleaning and lamp replacement. Monitor and maintain necessary cleaning and maintenance supplies. Respond to unscheduled building events at direction of Facilities Manager. Participate in snow removal activities including shoveling and operating a snow blower. Operate floor cleaning equipment. Other work as assigned, including projects. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to safely use a ladder of up to 20’. Possess, or have the ability to obtain, a Certified Pool Operations Certificate (CPO). Not less than 18 months experience in a comparable position. Knowledge of tools, equipment, methods, materials, and skills used in maintenance and custodial work. Ability to understand and follow occupational and safety rules, knowledge of hazards, safety precautions and chemical hazards involved in maintenance and custodial work. Graduation from High School, or equivalent combination of experience and training. COVID vaccine and booster required. Masking as necessary. SALARY/BENEFITS: Full time position with hourly wage between $19.50/hr. and $21.50/hr. depending on experience and qualifications. Schedule: This position will typically work between 6:00 AM and 2:30 PM, with a 30-minute, unpaid break for lunch. The position also offers a 15-minute paid break during the workday as scheduled with Supervisor. During emergencies, events and snow removal, some modification of the basic schedule may occur. Reporting: This position reports to BGCSM’s Facilities Director, or in his absence the organization’s Director of Finance & Administration.
