Katydid Greenhouses (located in Mcleansville, NC just outside Greensboro) seeks an Assistant Grower for our wholesale nursery. Experience: -Background working in a nursery/greenhouse environment required for this position. Applicants must be able to: • Be on your feet for 8+ hours each day • Lift, carry, and move 25+ pounds • Work in greenhouse environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, dirt, dust, and other possible allergens What we offer: • Full-time, year-round work (40+ hours per week) • Competitive pay commensurate with experience • Opportunity for advancement with proven performance and initiative • 401(k) (after a year of service), and Paid Time Off (PTO). Job Responsibilities: • Manage daily assignments and priorities from the head grower/owner to maintain top health and quality of plants • Learn and accurately identify irrigation and nutritional needs of various crops and carry out watering and fertilizing as needed. • Apply chemical pesticides and growth regulators as directed by the grower/owner and in accordance with OSHA and company safety procedures. • Assess plant health daily to identify and report any disease, insect problem or abnormalities • Work with the rest of our great team to identify new ways to improve processes in the areas of logistics, placement, etc. • Care and upkeep of the physical greenhouse, including walkways and work areas each day.
