From raised planters and potagers to integrated landscape designs blending ornamentals and edibles, there are a wide array of styles to create your own backyard grocery store. Explore tips and techniques on how to maximize your seasonal harvest and explore a wide range of edible plants; from Rhubarb to Radishes and Parsley to Persimmons, the possibilities are endless! In this four-hour workshop you will work on a series of design exercises for your own garden and go home with a wide assortment of weird and wild edible plant seeds to sow for the upcoming growing season. About our Instructor Matthew Ross is the Executive Director of The Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park. Before coming to Traverse City, he worked as the Continuing Education Director at Longwood Gardens overseeing over 200 programs in horticulture, landscape design, and floristry. He is nationally recognized as leader in horticulture and gardening and has a BS and MS from Michigan State University in Horticulture Science with an emphasis in Landscape Design Construction Management and Urban Forestry respectively.
