Description
The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival is an annual video contest in which kid filmmakers create short movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery award-winning books in about 90 seconds. Creative takes are encouraged: think Charlotte's Web as a horror movie, or The Tale of Desperaux as a musical!
For twelve years we've screened the best kid-made movies annually in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and many other cities . . . including right here in Salt Lake City.
Make your FREE reservation for the SALT LAKE CITY screening of this year's 90-Second Newbery! The screening is hosted by children's authors James Kennedy (The Order of Odd-Fish) and Keir Graff (The Tiny Mansion, The Phantom Tower, and more).
We'll be showing movies made by kids from Utah and some of the best from around the country.
This year, the Salt Lake City 90-Second Newbery will screen on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 12-1 pm at Spy Hop. James and Keir's books will be available for sale, and you can hang out with the authors and filmmakers!
Tickets are free! However, we recommend reserving your seat in advance to ensure admittance. Although a reservation is recommended, you don't have to bring a printed ticket.
(Interested in making your own 90-Second Newbery movie? Great! You can find complete details, plus video resources, at the 90-Second Newbery website: http://www.90secondnewbery.com.)
