First 350 Finishers in the 5K and 1 mile will receive a custom race medal for this family fun Inaugural race. We will have glow sticks, neon shirts, luminaries, police and fire department light and sounds as well as a DJ playing throughout the event. Most importantly, we will have a wellness team on site in case you would like to speak to someone. When: September 23, 2023 START : 8PM!! We are going 2 light the night sky up! Where: Middlesex Fire Department 11636 N Finch Avenue, Middlesex NC ******************************************************************************************** Strick-9 Training & Security, LLC along with Middlesex Fire Department proudly presents the Inaugural Out of the Darkness N2 the Light 5k and 1 mile walk/run. -This 5K event will shine light on mental health awareness and suicide prevention. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have found occupational stress in first responders can be associated with increased risk of serious mental health issues including hopelessness, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and suicidal behaviors such as suicidal ideation and actualized attempts. - Funds from this race will support our first responders with mental health training and programs. The overall community will benefit because the training will directly impact the physical and mental wellbeing of our first responders. In order for our first responders to help others, they first must be well themselves. Sometimes the heroes need saving and this training will start the hard conversations. -The 3.1-mile course will be USATF certified and will have hills. It will begin and end at Middlesex Fire Department. There will be one hydration station. -Volunteers and entertainment will be stationed along the route to help motivate and encourage each runner to finish strong. - luminaries will be lit throughout the race area. We would be honored to light one for your loved one. We will have the luminaries at bag pick-up on Friday night for you to write their name and a message. -Timing and Scoring will be monitored by Clockwork Race Timing using a Bib chip timing system. -The 1mile walk/run will not be timed but it will be a fun event and each finisher will receive a medal. There will not be age bracket winners for this event You are guaranteed a race shirt if you register by August 1, 2023. - Packet Pick-up and Registration. Friday Night Sept. 22nd from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Middlesex Fire Department and 6 - 7:00 PM on Race Day at Middlesex Fire Department. ******* If you do not pick your race packet up, we will not hold or mail. -5K AWARDS: Medals will be given to all 5K and 1 mile participants. Special awards will be given to the top 3 in each of the following 5K race male and female age groups: 15-under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70- Race will take place rain or shine. No Rain Date. -SPONSOR: If you or your business would like to sponsor this race, we will have 3 different levels.
