Description

All veterans make the commitment to serve their country. When we return home, we may struggle to reconnect with others, and/or struggle to love ourselves. Veterans are invited to join us for a self-love and mindfulness workshop. This is not a deep-breathing, sit in the quiet type of mindfulness. Instead, we will begin our morning with some refreshments, some gentle body movements, and some time to mingle with our fellow veterans. Norita Cruz is a Navy veteran who moved to the Knoxville area to be part of the community, raise a family, and build others up. Gentle movement, laughter, food, and time with others have helped her grow and heal from cPTSD, including childhood and military related trauma.17 Syllables of Change - a fast pace workshop designed to help each veteran transform their story into a Haiku Multidisciplinary Artist, Activist and Facilitator Jonathan Clark, also known as “Courageous,” is a native of Knoxville, TN and Alumnus of the University of Tennessee. She understands that not everyone can meditate in traditional ways so she developed a way to share mindfulness through these incredible sewing workshops. She has donated several fuzzy monsters to veterans through her home school classes and other workshops. In this session, she is bringing the supplies to our veterans to help them enjoy some mindfulness and quality time together. Sewing with a self-love twist!
