Speakers will present key topic and preparation for the LEED Green Associate certificaiton.Join in our panel discussion with a diverse group of educators, students, administrators, and green building professionals about their experience driving sustainability through the lens of Higher Education in the Carolinas. Network with our panelists regarding the value of LEED credentials, Sustainability Curriculum, LEED Lab and Student Initiatives like the Appalachian State USGBC student chapter. DESCRIPTION Across North and South Carolina, institutions of higher learning are leading the way in sustainability through their campuses and curriculum. This in-person panel features a discussion of the value of LEED Lab, LEED Green Associates, and student engagement . Each of these demonstrates what is possible when higher education institutions apply green building principles. Join students, faculty and other stakeholders to hear their insights and identify their strategies to solve project goals and challenges for health, energy, and environmental performance. LEARNING OBJECTIVES 1. Identify career tools and resources students can use to advance their education in the green building market. 2. Educate about strategies used to integrate sustainability in the curriculum through student-based initiatives and LEED building features and how they add value. 3. Discuss the advantages for the higher education institutions to move the green buildings and communities forward in their sustainability journey. Link to the human experience on campus. 4. Describe how higher education institutions have continued to find value in LEED and ways colleges and universities are incorporating LEED in the curriculum. 5. Discuss in groups how students are inspiring change.
