Kristen Martin, received her education from Indiana University Bloomington and was a child welfare scholarship recipient in her undergraduate studies. She worked the first half of her career in the child welfare starting at the bottoms as technician for youth to being a therapist for families with a focusing on reunification.
She became fascinated with the neurobiological changes that occur in children who experienced trauma. With that education came her deeper understanding and application of trauma informed care and the long term affects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
She is also the founder of Gary Harm Reduction and a person in recovery from opioid use disorder. She developed a passionate about Overdose Prevention. She realized while doing child welfare work, she wasn’t not addressing the systemic issue for involvement- the opioid crisis.
