Company Description: 100 Times Farm is a certified organic farm in Boulder County, Colorado. The farm is in its third year of production growing diversified vegetables and flowers for distribution through our CSA models and downtown Longmont farmstand. We are now hiring for the 2023 season and are looking for the perfect candidate to oversee our greenhouse management, residential flower garden maintenance and installation clients, and flower CSA. Job Description: The Crew Leader will work closely with the farm founder and the rest of the Farm Leadership team in all aspects of production to meet the high quality standards our customers have come to expect. The Crew Leader will work collaboratively with the Farm Leadership to establish and implement annual, weekly and daily production objectives in order to meet the farm’s goals. The Crew Leader will oversee harvests, field management, and CSA/Farm Stand distributions. The Crew Leader will be committed to overseeing and maintaining requirements for Organic Certification. Ideal candidates will be passionate about efficient growing/harvest practices, fostering Crew Member development, and enthusiastic about all aspects of management. This is a full-time, seasonal position. Our hope is that the Crew Leader is interested in a long-term role that will be eligible for raises, bonuses, and farm career progression. This seasonal position requires availability Monday-Friday from 6am-7pm, and strives to maintain a 40 hour work week. Other than exceptional circumstances; days on the farm are 8 hours-long, 5 days a week, and with weekends free. Responsibilities: Work with the Farm Leadership Team to implement the farm plan by collaboratively overseeing Crew Members in all aspects of production, which can include: Overseeing actualization of Crop Plan: ensuring that deadlines are met for timely plantings, harvests, and general farm labor Cultivating/weeding either with tractors, hoes, hand tools or by hand Irrigating, mulching, trellising, applying timely foliar feeds, and other crop management tasks Maintain clean and organized work and storage spaces Perform necessary tractor work Participate in regular work planning meetings Make deliveries and manage CSA distributions when needed Work with other leaders to write and refine SOP’s for regularly performed farm tasks Qualifications: 4 years of experience on full-season vegetable production operations Minimum 1 year management experience that includes managing a team of 3 or more crew members (any industry is acceptable) Conversational proficiency in Spanish 100 hours + of tractor operation experience Valid driver’s license, willingness to drive farm vehicles as needed Physically able to endure repetitive motions i.e. squatting and lifting 50 lbs. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Able to do fast, quality, detailed production tasks like bunching, picking, seeding, hand weeding, washing, and packing Able to effectively communicate with Crew Members and dial in efficiencies Extensive knowledge of diversified vegetable/flower production and crop quality Understanding of best harvest practices that ensure crop quality Able to receive and provide constructive feedback Able to work independently as well as part of a diverse team, proactive self-starter Able to work quickly without supervision and problem solve and adapt Basic understanding of proper use of power tools and maintenance Willing to work in all weather conditions Computer literate and willing to utilize our software tools Compensation: This is a seasonal, hourly position at $16-$20/hr DOE. Depending on Mother Nature and crop viability, you will receive a weekly CSA membership and a weekly DIY flower bouquet! *We are willing to train the right person, but candidates must have demonstrated experience in diversified vegetable production and crew management to be considered for this position.
