Find out more about an active research study at NIDA. If you are 18-70 years old, drink alcohol, and are willing to quit drinking alcohol during the study, you may qualify. This study looks at changing the activity level of ghrelin, which is commonly called “the hunger hormone,” with a medication to determine if it helps to decrease craving for alcohol. The study involves an overnight stay in the Clinical Research Unit on the Johns Hopkins Bayview campus for up to 21 days and one outpatient follow up visit.
