Join the Society for Technical Communication’s East Tennessee Chapter (STC-ETC) on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Lighthouse in Knoxville, Tennessee, for a day of professional development. The day-long workshop will include presentations and panels on topics of interest to technical and science communicators. These topics include
—procedure writing and editing presented by Elizabeth Kirby, a Technical Writer/Editor from Oak Ridge National Laboratory;
—technical and science communication as an alternative to academia, aimed especially at students and faculty currently in academia who are curious about options outside of academia (alt-ac careers); and
—the science writing process when communicating with the public about complex, technical stories related to science research.
The workshop will also have time for networking with technical and science communications professionals. For students interested in these career paths, professionals looking for a career change, and seasoned technical/science communications professionals, this workshop is a great chance to learn about technical/science communications topics and meet fellow East Tennessee tech/sci comm colleagues!
To attend, please register by Friday, February 3, 2023. Registration is $10 for students and $20 for professionals. Registration includes continental breakfast and a lunch buffet.
Want to pay at the door instead of here? Select "Pay at the door" as your registration. Cash, check, PayPal, and Venmo will be accepted on the day of the event.
The annual style workshop is made possible by the generous support of the John C. Hodges Better English Fund at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
